Texas Association of School Business Officials

The Texas Association of School Business Officials is a government sector lobbying association in Texas. It is a 501(c)(3) organization. [1] The organization represents more than 850 school districts in Texas.[2]

Taxpayer-funded lobbying

The Texas Association of School Business Officials is involved in at least local lobbying. For example, a representative of the association was a witness to a meeting of the Education Committee on May 9, 2001, although this individual did not testify. [3]

Income and expenses

The organization's program service expenses were $2,473,600.[1] There are comprised of member services, conferences, educational courses and workshops, among other expenses. [1]

The Texas Association of School Business Officials gave the consulting firm Gibson Consulting $516,859 in 2007 as compensation for services rendered.[1] It also works with Moak, Casey & Associates, LLP [2] and paid the group $233,800 in 2007. [1]

Membership dues

Membership dues depend on the compensation of the school official. These range from $85 a year for a salary of $29,999, to $125 for a salary of $40,000.[6]

Opposition to online check registers

The Texas Association of School Business Officials is opposed to efforts that would mandate school districts to post check registers and credit card transactions online, and to update these on a monthly basis. [7]
